My love of acting began at the age of six. I was proud to be a in our elementary school's production
of "The Selfish Giant". Our school (in my opinion) was fortunate in having a principal who placed much
emphasis on the arts. Every year we had an "operetta". In high school, I spent way too much time
hanging out in the drama room, and even spending time
in drama classes I was not enrolled in! It would seem
a given, that acting would be the path I would follow after graduation. Yet when the end of high school was
near, I somehow managed to talk myself out of pursuing a career in acting. I thought I should be "responsible".
However, I soon came to realize I just couldn't be "whole", unless I was acting.
The Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival has been good to me. In my first year, I was in both Lee Blessing's
FORTINBRAS, and a fun and quirky mix of Shakespeare and Dr. Who, called THE TRIALS OF TARA. Later on,
I had the great fortune to be cast in local playwright, Nancy Jakubic's BRAINSTORM. It was an amazing
experience that will forever stay in my memory.
There has also been local independant films and television. My first film was in local director/writer Kevin Doherty's take-off of 1950's sci-fi movies, called
I COME IN PIECES, about an "eerie" new pet craze. And that is
just the beginning...
